How to Create One Way Back Links Using Certain Types of Monthly Submissions

By Sandy Ingram

Beginning e-commerce site owners can research the following vocabulary words to better understand this article: spamming, meta tags, cpanel, external links, one way links, good neighborhoods, search engine ranking, RSS Feeds, HTML format, crawlers, spiders, robots

When submitting to search engines, you must be careful not to submit your site too often. This can have an adverse affect, should the search engine believe you are "pushing" it.

On the other hand submitting to the same directories month after month, after they have already added your site doesn't make sense either and could be considered as spamming.

Once you have submitted your site to the major search engines and directories (and if your meta tags were properly written) the best action would be to wait. Time is on your side.

However, submitting each month to classified sites, blogs, social sites, and article sites, can and will increase your back link count greatly.

Classified sites have to be submitted to because ads fall off after a certain period. When you have something new and relevant to say, new blog postings are welcomed and having links back to your site from social sites and articles helps to grow your site while you sleep.

Other web site owners who need new and relevant content may pick up your articles for newsletters, blogs, or even web site content. Each time this happens, you get a one way back link to your site. This is good. One way links are better then exchanged links.

You can view, in your site's cpanel/Awstats Statistics: External links - to see what sites are linked to your site. To find out exactly how many links your site has, go to MSN, Yahoo and Google and put in: 'links: your sites name.com' and the search engine will tell you exactly how many links you have at that moment.

When you keep submitting to classified sites, article sites, blogs and post on social sites - your back link count can increase dramatically. The higher the rank of the sites linking back to you, the better your site's ranking.

Your sites FMF (fair market value) depends on how many back links you have linking to your site, as well as your annual revenue.

There are less then 10 major search engines on the Internet today. The promise to deliver submissions to thousands and thousands of search engines is simple not true. Often times, submissions to directories is advertised as submissions to search engines. There are hundreds of thousands of online directories and having a one way link back to your site from these directories has proven to be extremely helpful in getting sites higher placement in the search engines.

Search engines like sites that are well connected in 'good neighborhoods' Usually, good neighborhoods are considered sites with no adult content. They also like sites that have a high keyword to content ratio, along with updated content. (That's why RSS Feeds, especially in HTML format are used to increase a sites ranking)

If you really want to know what these mega crawlers (spiders) like, just take a moment and browse the top sites on the major search engines, in your keyword category. Right click your mouse and you will see the 'view source.' Look at their meta tags, description, keywords, title, etc.

Now go back about 10 pages and see how these sites compare in content, keywords, etc. Do this often, and before you know it, you will have a gut feeling about what will work and won't work.

Of course you could just read Google's Webmaster Instructions and see exactly what Google likes and dislike, and get inside information on all the does and don'ts.

Importance of Backlinks

By James Bukovsky

The importance of backlinks is often not fully appreciated by the website owners or webmasters. When making changes to your website for Search Engine Optimization for good ranking on the major search engine such as Google, Yahoo or MSN, there are different factors that you should look at.

Website Ranking

If you would like to obtain a good ranking on the search engines you will accept the importance of backlinks. The website content and the Meta tags must of course be in accordance with the appropriate keyword density percentages. The search engines through its bots and spiders then perform a mathematic formula and assign a numeric value to the site. The rank assigned to your website depends for a large share to the number of backlinks that your website has from other websites with a strong preference to backlinks from websites which are relevant to your website and its content.

Backlink and Reciprocol Link

There are two forms of links we are looking at which are back links and reciprocal links. Both the back link and reciprocal link suggest to the search engines that your website should assign a high rank to your website in the search engine results as other websites view your website as a quality website which is why they have linked to your site. By reciprocating the link back to the site that is linking to your website, a firm network connection is build. Google and the other major search engines place high credit on backlinks and reciprocate links and therefore a website with a strong and solid backlink campaign will find their website to end up being rewarded by the search engines such Google and Yahoo.

Dead Backlinks

There is a negative side to the whole backlinks building process. A website that you have exchanged links with could delete a backlink or a page may get removed. When a search engine bot crawls through your site and finds a dead backlink then this could be lead to negative view of the search engines in regards to your website. The search engine would find the dead link and consider that your website isn't taking good care of the content and links published on the site and could assign you a worse ranking then you previously had in the search engine results.

Some of the websites that your site might have exchanged reciprocal links with could very likely check all their backlinks to see if they remain active and present. If the other website finds that the backlink to their website is no longer active or has been removed then the website in question will more than likely remove the backlink to your website. Having your site in a good partnership with your link partners will keep the search engines like MSN and Google engine satisfied.

Bad Neighborhood Link

If your website exchanges links with a site that has been in trouble with the search engines due to spamming or bad content then this could result into your website being somehow penalized for linking with a bad neighborhood website like the one your site is linking with.

Link Popularity Should Be Top Priority For Your Blog

If you have a blog, you should use it to build your link popularity. Here are some practical tips to help you do that.

Link popularity is nothing to sneeze at. If you're building a website of any kind, you need it. The question is, how do you build the link popularity that makes you rise in the search engines?

Well, there are several ways. Here are just a few:

Article Marketing

Link Reciprocity

Link Purchasing

Social Networking

Blogging

You could, of course, build a website and just hope that other webmasters like you well enough to link to you. But that is an unreliable method for a few reasons:

You can't force webmasters to link to you

To get webmasters to link to you voluntarily you'll have to provide them with maximum benefit, which is possible but unless you are the top-notch in your industry and you know it this is not as reliable as some people would have you believe

Some webmasters will not link to you no matter how much quality content you have unless you link back to them and you should know that reciprocal links aren't as valuable as one-way links so that would defeat the purpose (NOTE: I'm not saying reciprocal links are bad, just not as valuable as one-way links)

While you can get one-way links to your website that are valuable links by relying on other webmasters to see the value you offer, to count on that method alone would be disastrous. For one thing, even if every website in the world linked to yours, not all of them would benefit you because in order for one-way links to have maximum benefit they need to be from websites with a high PageRank. That adds another kink in your garden hose, doesn't it?

In other words, if you want to build link popularity, you need to rely on a number of methods to grow your website's ranking and not just rely on one method. In my opinion, one method stands out above all others as the quickest and most effective method for building link popularity: Blogging.

Here's how it works:

Each blog post is a single page in the search engines

Every time you link from your blog post to your website you are building a one-way link

If the blog is on your domain name, links to your website will benefit you more at Yahoo and MSN

If the blog is on a separate domain name, links to your website will benefit you at all of the search engines

Build link popularity through your blog using anchor text and signature lines. In your anchor text, take a keyword and make that a link two or three times in the body of your blog post. In your signature line, make the signature itself the name of your website or the URL, your actual website address. Every time you do that, you are building link popularity. Go to http://www.marketleap.com and you can measure your link popularity and even look at historical trends. Make link popularity a priority for your blog today.
